What is CPC Training?
Driver CPC is a certificate of professional competence designed to improve road safety and maintain high driving standards across Europe.
By law, drivers of lorries, buses, coaches and taxi’s must complete 35 hours of training every five years to keep their CPC valid.

Initial CPC Qualification
New drivers must complete an ‘Initial Driver CPC Qualification’ driving professionally.
Fail to complete the initial training course means you are driving illegally. If caught you could have your licence revoked, be fined or even face imprisonment.
The initial qualification is split into four parts: Theory test – split into multiple choice and hazard perception. Case studies – a series of seven studies based on real-life situations. Practical test – testing your driving ability. Vehicle safety demonstration – learning how to keep vehicles safe and secure
Periodic CPC Training
Periodic CPC Training must be undertaken after the Initial Qualification is completed. It is the individual drivers’ responsibility to ensure their training is up to date and they are legally compliant.
All drivers must complete at least 35 hours of Driver CPC training every five years on a continuous basis. This is what’s known as periodic training. Most drivers choose to complete seven hours of training each year, helping to spread the time effort and cost.
Each following five-year period begins from the expiry date of a driver’s current DCPC qualification, and not from the date on which they reached the 35-hour minimum training requirement.
